According to Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) data, across the emerging markets 30 private equity funds raised US$7.8 billion through 31 March 2012, compared to 46 funds that raised US$9.9 billion in the first quarter of 2011. On the investment side, 198 deals were completed for US$4.8 billion through 31 March, compared to 217 deals completed for US$8.5 billion in the first quarter of last year.
