András Molnár

András Molnár is the CEO of PortfoLion that manages seed and growth-stage venture capital funds and a later-stage focused private equity fund, totaling EUR 60 million. András joined PorfoLion in 2010 right at the start of the company. Throughout his career he has gained experience in investing across multiple-stages and managing innovative, technology focused start-ups both in the United States and in Hungary. Previously, he worked as an analyst at the Central Bank of Hungary, then he was the head of international business development at KÜRT Ltd., after that he became the CEO of the American KÜRT Security LLC which was funded with venture capital investment. Later on he joined a Northern Virginia-based VC firm, McLean Capital, where he was working until the start of PortfoLion.

Balázs Haszonics, CEO of Lead Ventures. Balázs joined Lead Ventures in 2018, initially as the CFO, later becoming a partner, and has been leading the company since 2023. Lead Ventures is a venture capital/private equity firm specializing in financing growth-stage startups in Central Europe. Balázs is a seasoned professional in strategy and investments. Previously, he held leadership positions in strategy and finance at the MOL Group. Prior to that, he worked with various financial sector players, including ING Bank Hungary, ING Australia, MSCI Barra, and PwC M&A. He earned his Master of Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University in Sydney in 2008.

Balázs Haszonics, CEO of Lead Ventures. Balázs joined Lead Ventures in 2018, initially as the CFO, later becoming a partner, and has been leading the company since 2023. Lead Ventures is a venture capital/private equity firm specializing in financing growth-stage startups in Central Europe. Balázs is a seasoned professional in strategy and investments. Previously, he held leadership positions in strategy and finance at the MOL Group. Prior to that, he worked with various financial sector players, including ING Bank Hungary, ING Australia, MSCI Barra, and PwC M&A. He earned his Master of Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University in Sydney in 2008.

Judit Budai is a senior partner and co-managing Szecskay Attorneys at Law. During her 30 years of practice, she has gained extensive experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and capital markets transactions, competition law and regulatory matters in various industrial, agricultural and service sectors. Judit has been involved in a number of privatizations and private placement transactions advising strategic or financial investors, as well as in private placements (both on the sell-side, buy-side and target company side) as a member or lead advisor of the advisory team. Currently, Judit advises mainly on private M&A transactions, mainly to foreign financial investors, and provides legal advice on more complex corporate ownership and corporate governance issues to innovative start-ups. In addition, she advises owners and managers of expanding and family-owned businesses in transition on corporate and civil law issues related to business expansion and restructuring. She provides legal support for the management of generational change, asset planning for the separation of business and private assets, asset protection and assists in resolving ownership disputes. She speaks English at a conversational level. In essence, since foundation of the HVCA, she has been an active participant mainly through its Education and Legal Committees, co-author of the VC Guide, Industry Recommendation Packages, Term Sheet for tutorial purpose and a sponsor of the Start Your Business AmCham-HVCA joint university program. She holds a law degree from ELTE-AJTK (1991), an MBA from the Budapest University of Economics and Business School-London Business School joint program (1996) and conducted postgraduate studies in EU Law at King's College London (2004). He has been a member of the Budapest Bar since 1992.

Dr. Eszter Hubbes is partner of Hubbes & Kovács Attorneys at Law and registered attorney-at-law at the Budapest Bar Association. She graduated „cum laude” in 2005 at the law faculty of ELTE University, Budapest. In 2011 got a WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) diploma and obtained tax advisor degree in 2013. When she passed the bar exam in 2009 she founded Hubbes Law Firm, which worked in continuous cooperation with Dr. Kovács Tamás Law Firm (specialized in energy law and MCA transaction) until the law firms merged in 2016. Hubbes&Kovács Attorneys-at-law is funding (and only Hungarian) member of IURISGAL I.N.O.L.F, international network of law firms the first and only Global Network of independent Law Firms whose main spoken language is Spanish and which is actively present in four continents. She is mostly specialized in investment, corporate, financial, tax and real property law, and developed strong practice in business acquisitions and venture capital investments. Dr. Eszter Hubbes is partner of Hubbes & Kovács Attorneys at Law and registered attorney-at-law at the Budapest Bar Association. She graduated „cum laude” in 2005 at the law faculty of ELTE University, Budapest. In 2011 got a WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) diploma and obtained tax advisor degree in 2013. When she passed the bar exam in 2009 she founded Hubbes Law Firm, which worked in continuous cooperation with Dr. Kovács Tamás Law Firm (specialized in energy law and MCA transaction) until the law firms merged in 2016. Bence Katona is the President and CEO of the Nemzeti Tőkeholding Plc. He also holds the position of CEO at Focus Ventures Plc., which supports the development of medium and large enterprises through corporate capital financing. In 2016, he played a role in establishing one of the region's most active fund managers, Hiventures Plc., where he gained outstanding expertise in setting up thematic investment funds and managing them, initially as Deputy CEO, and later as CEO. He possesses relevant business experience in Private Equity, M&A, and venture capital investments, overseeing the completion of over 400 transactions. In the years leading up to his appointment as Deputy CEO of Hiventures Plc., he was involved in development policy within the Prime Minister's Office. He obtained a degree in economics with a specialization in business development from Corvinus University of Budapest. From 2013, he was a PhD student and lecturer at the Doctoral School of Management Studies, where he obtained his doctorate in 2016. His research focused on the financing of innovative startup ventures and the operation of capital funds. He completed numerous international university courses, primarily in the areas of Private Equity and M&A. Additionally, he acted as a mentor in the development of several startup ventures and was himself involved as a co-founder in the successful establishment of startup ventures. Since 2021, he has been a member of the Hungarian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HVCA).

Elemér Eszter is Chairman of the Board of Directors at PBG FMC Ltd., a venture capital firm founded in 2011. The primary goal of the company is to maximize the value of managed funds entrusted to it by external investors, and to facilitate the market success of small and medium enterprises, who generate a substantial export income for Hungary. PBG FMC Ltd. manages a venture capital fund (EUR 15 Million) containing a mix of EU and private money since the 24th February, 2014. Elemér Eszter – after graduating from Pázmány Péter Catholic University – studied economy and political science at Christendom College in Virginia, United States. He started his career in 2002 at Citi Bank Ltd. Afterwards, between 2004-2008, he was the co-founder of Cryo-Innovation Inc., which was acquired in 2012 by the Swedish public listed company Vitrolife. Portus Buda Group (PBG) Ltd. was founded in 2007. Elemér Eszter, as a co-founder, is an executive officer at the company, which managed 15 acquisitions, 8 real estate development deals, and 10 asset management projects over the past decade. The aim of PBG Ltd. is to assist the major Hungarian Churches and their institutions to operate on a more sustainable basis. In 2009 Elemér Eszter contributed to the founding of SSP Inc. in the US on behalf of investors and has been an observer member of the board ever since. In 2015 Eszter Elemer was a co-founder of the Hungarian Social Impact Investors Association; from 2017 he has been the President of the Association. Eszter Elemér is a co-founder and CEO of Impact Ventures Ltd. (2017), which will manage the first CEE Social Impact Fund (EUR 21 Million). He is also a Supervisory Board member of Susterra Ltd., a fund management company, which will manage the Water Impact Fund (EUR 200 Million), specialising in water and environmental impact investing.

He is actively involved in the daily development and implementation of international growth strategies, international business development, venture capital transactions, and strategic exits - both as a consultant and interim manager. He has worked on the growth strategies of companies such as Balabit, Parkl, AQ Anton, Avatao, Shopbuilder, and Continest. His main areas of expertise include internationalization of companies, international sales and business development, primarily in the technology sector, as well as in the defense and aerospace industries. He is a former member of the Board of the Hungarian Foreign Trade Association. He regularly gives lectures and trainings in Hungarian and English, including at Corvinus University and the MNKH/HEPA Export Academy, and has taught international marketing at BGE and the Metropolitan University Executive MBA program. He is an active angel investor and a member of HunBan.
